Justice and Human Rights in Afghanistan (UNDP)

ATR conducted face to face interviews with more than 3,000 respondents in four provinces to better understand dominant perceptions of the justice systems in Afghanistan – both formal and customary – and illuminate the origins of those perceptions. Through a questionnaire of over 70 questions, ATR conducted a rigorous analysis of all aspects of the population’s relationship with the justice system. Project partner Lapis then utilized the data gathered to inform the design of an effective communication strategy with which the Ministry of Justice will use to engage with the population with the goal of increasing public faith in the formal justice system.
