ATR has been engaged in mapping, assessing and building the capacity of local education departments to better involve the community and provide stable, quality education to communities.

From Afghanistan to Kyrgyzstan to Ghana, ATR has been involved in monitoring school construction programs and evaluating interventions aimed at improving educational outcomes.

Past projects in Afghanistan include:

  • The evaluation of a girls’ community-based education program for the Afghan component of DFID/ACTED’s Girls’ Education Challenge.
  • An assessment of barriers to literacy for the USAID/Creative Associates program Afghan Children Read.
  • A review of the policy, legal and strategic frameworks of the education sector for Helvetas.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of school construction quality for DANIDA’s Education Support Programme, in partnership with the engineering firm Global Trust.
